Global Engagement Dialogue Explores New Collaboration Opportunities between UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta and UTeM, Melaka
As part of the International Collaboration Day: UPNVY and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) programme, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY), in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UPNVY, organized the Global Engagement Dialogue: Exploring Collaboration Opportunities on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, at the Seminar Room of the Faculty of Economics and Business, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta.
The dialogue featured Associate Professor Dr. Budi Suprapto from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) and served as one of the flagship activities of the Visiting Lecturer in the International Collaboration Day: UPNVY and UTeM programme. The forum brought together university leaders, faculty members, researchers, and representatives from both institutions to explore strategic opportunities for expanding academic cooperation and strengthening international engagement.
The discussion focused on identifying potential collaborations in education, research, knowledge exchange, academic mobility, joint publications, innovation, and other internationalization initiatives. The dialogue reaffirmed the shared commitment of UPNVY and UTeM to developing sustainable institutional partnerships that enhance academic excellence, promote intercultural understanding, and create greater opportunities for students and academic staff to participate in global learning experiences.
Beyond strengthening bilateral cooperation, the Global Engagement Dialogue contributes directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The commitment to expanding international academic partnerships supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering long-term institutional collaboration and knowledge sharing. The exchange of expertise and best practices in higher education advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing learning quality, research capacity, and global competencies. Through discussions on innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-based collaboration, the programme also contributes to SDG 1 (No Poverty) by promoting inclusive economic development through education and innovation, SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by encouraging collaborative research on sustainable agriculture and food security, and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) by opening opportunities for joint initiatives in engineering, renewable energy, and sustainable technology development.
The Global Engagement Dialogue represents another important milestone in the growing partnership between UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka. Through continuous international collaboration, both universities reaffirm their commitment to producing impactful education, innovative research, and sustainable solutions that address regional and global challenges while preparing graduates to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
